Summary: Even the best bearings need love. Follow our step-by-step guide to keeping your Apex Speed Club bearings spinning like new for years.
Content: You’ve invested in the best technology—now let’s make sure it stays that way. While our Titanium-Ceramic bearings are designed for durability, a little maintenance goes a long way in preserving that "fresh out of the box" speed.
Step 1: Know When to Clean If your wheels start making a "crunchy" sound, or if they stop spinning as long as they used to, it’s time for a bath. For street skaters, we recommend a cleaning every 2 months. Indoor skaters can go 4-6 months.
Step 2: The Proper Solution Never use WD-40. It is a solvent, not a lubricant, and it will attract more dirt over time. Instead, use a specialized bearing cleaner or high-purity isopropyl alcohol.
Step 3: The Deep Clean
- Remove the Shields: Carefully pop off the rubber seals with a pin.
- Soak: Submerge the bearings in your cleaner and shake them gently. Watch the dirt wash away.
- Dry: This is crucial. Use a hairdryer or compressed air to ensure zero moisture is left inside.
Step 4: The Magic Drop Add 1 to 2 drops of high-speed bearing oil. Do not over-lube! Too much oil actually creates "drag" and slows you down. Spin the bearing to distribute the oil, then snap the shields back on.
Pro Tip for Long-Axle Users: One of the hidden benefits of our Built-in Spacer design is that there are fewer loose parts to manage during this process, making maintenance faster and more precise.
